The role

We are looking for a field based Business Development Manager to cover Scotland & Northern Ireland. Candidates must show an exceptional approach to this role, understanding that the needs of clients (both internal and external) are at the heart of everything we do and key to the success of our business. Within the Sales Team, a can-do attitude and a supportive approach to team members are essential attributes.

Primary job functions:

  • Meeting advisers to build and maintain relationships
  • Presenting at adviser events
  • Outbound telephone calls to maintain relationships or schedule meetings
  • Become known as key point of contact for all financial advisers across the region
  • Provide an exceptional level of client service
  • Implement new sales and marketing campaigns
  • Build and develop new relationships with prospective companies
  • Help educate financial advisers and enable them to solve their clients’ needs
  • Enhance and develop existing relationships to increase business levels
  • Proactively follow-up client meetings
  • Develop good working relationship with ‘paired‘ OBDM(s)
  • Provide all required support to financial advisers
  • Maintain up-to-date records on internal CRM system


Secondary job functions:

  • Constantly seeking new opportunities to develop the business
  • Help ensure the team works efficiently
  • Attend and support adviser and industry conferences and other events, as required
  • Ensure a good flow of information between teams
  • Constantly improve product and industry knowledge

  • Strong and flexible work ethic
  • High quality interpersonal skills
  • Strong relevant IT knowledge (particularly Microsoft Office)
  • Excellent English grammar to provide high quality well-written emails
  • Attention to detail
  • Highly organised and able to work alone efficiently and effectively
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Hold or working towards industry specific exams as specified from time to time
